What should I expect when I attend Pecan Grove Baptist Church?
It is hard to walk into a new place with a bunch of people you do not know. The most important thing for you to know is that Pecan Grove Baptist Church is a safe place for all people. You do not have to worry about being judged or thought differently of. We are going to love you just as we do our own family. We all have stories to share, and this is a place where you can feel safe with yours.
What do people wear?
Some of our folks wear casual clothes, jeans, slacks even shorts. Some wear suits. No one is uncomfortable!
Am I going to be singled out in any way?
No. We would love for you to fill out a guest card if you would like so we can get to know you better, but you do not have to. You are free to come as often as you’d like. When an opportunity is offered to respond to the Lord by praying with someone, then take it if you would like. But do know that we wish to know not only your face, but your name and your story if you’re willing to give it! We’re here for the Lord and for each other. We’re here for you too!
How long does worship last?
Typical worship goes from 10:30 - 11:45. We love to worship and will spend a good deal of time singing songs to the Lord – both hymns and contemporary Christian songs - hearing testimonies from brothers and sisters, participating in the Lord’s Supper, and praying. The sermon usually lasts 45 minutes. At the end of each sermon we are led into a time of reflection and response. During this time we are focusing on what God has spoken to us about through His word. We may want to be alone with the Lord at the altar, receive prayer from a member of the prayer team, or just reflect silently where we are.
Typical Order of Worship will be as follows:
Opening Songs
Welcome and Announcements
Worship Set
Giving of Our Tithes and Offerings
Prayer
Sermon
The Lord’s Supper (quarterly)
Reflection and Response
Closing
